Covid Safety Mask rebranding design

Brief

A project to reenvision a medical grade respirator into a fashion accessory. The base mask is a Dentec Safety NxMD model. Finishing achieved through a mixture of hand painting and hand embellishment with brush and marker.

Results

Project was shared out on social media in the spring of 2022, and has received 120+ reshares on Twitter.

Design 1: Flowing Water Lacquerware Mask

This design takes inspiration from historical Japanese lacquerware design. The facepiece features flowing water patterns accented by red crystal embellishments. The filter cover pieces are decorated with mountain patterns with a setting of red crystals across the top, cherry blossom illustrations at bottom, with seigaiha waves around the edge of the curve.

Ombre Stardust

Mask design was influenced by the iconic Ziggy Stardust face paint pattern from David Bowie. Colors were adjusted to accomodate the client’s request for a galaxy color design. Facepiece features an ombre lightning bolt and filter covers are covered with a rainbow stripe influenced from regimental stripe textile patterns.
